✈️ Andreas Airfield (WW2 RAF)

Multi-Period Archaeological Site MED Priority ✈️ Andreas Airfield (WW2 RAF) - Multi-Period Archaeological Site on the Isle of Man
Second WW2 RAF airfield in the northern plain. RAF Andreas operated as a Fighter Sector HQ and training base. Like Jurby, thousands of personnel passed through. The airfield sits in the heart of the Andreas Viking settlement area — where Thorwald's Cross, ogham inscriptions, and Viking hoards have been found. WHY: Same detecting logic as Jurby — WW2 military material on top of IoM's richest Viking landscape. The area between the two airfields (Andreas/Jurby) is flat, well-drained farmland — ideal for systematic detecting. Every field between these two airfields has potential for multi-period finds.
