Baldwin Valley
Medieval Heritage Site LOW Priority
Remote central valley running from Douglas towards the hills. Medieval farmsteads and mill sites documented along the river. The Baldwin Reservoir (1905) provides Douglas's water supply. WHY: Remote valleys preserve archaeology better than accessible lowland. Medieval mill sites are productive for detecting β millers handled money daily. The valley approach from Douglas was a well-used track for centuries. Fields near the old mill sites and farmsteads are the priority.
