Site of the Ballaquayle Hoard, discovered in 1894 — the largest single collection of Viking silver ever found on the Isle of Man. The hoard included arm rings, hack-silver, coins, and ingots dating to c.AD 950-1000. Now displayed at the Manx Museum. WHY DETECT HERE: Where one hoard was found, more may exist. Viking hoards were typically buried in clusters near settlements. The surrounding fields have HIGH potential for associated finds.
