Calf of Man Wreck Sites

Historic Shipwreck & Dive Site MED Priority Calf of Man Wreck Sites - Historic Shipwreck & Dive Site on the Isle of Man
The treacherous Calf Sound between IoM and the Calf of Man has powerful tidal races that have caught out mariners for centuries. At peak flow, the water rushes through the narrow channel at several knots — enough to make boat handling extremely challenging. Multiple vessels have been lost trying to navigate this gap, particularly in fog or poor weather. WHY DIVE HERE: The marine life in Calf Sound is extraordinary — seals, basking sharks (summer), and one of the richest underwater ecosystems in the British Isles. The wreck debris adds to the diving interest. Only attempt at slack water with experienced skipper. Discover Diving and IoM Diving Charters both run trips here.
