Iron Age Hillfort & Settlement MED PriorityPromontory fort on the northwestern shore. First reported by German archaeologist Gerhard Bersu in 1949, who surveyed the island whilst a POW. May be a natural feature rather than artificial fortification. WHY DETECT HERE: Coastal promontory forts were gathering points and lookout stations β coins, brooches and personal items accumulate at such sites over centuries.
