⛰️ Cronk Karran (coastal hilltop, Cregneash)

Neolithic Archaeological Site MED Priority ⛰️ Cronk Karran (coastal hilltop, Cregneash) - Neolithic Archaeological Site on the Isle of Man
Small stone circle or hut circle on a hilltop overlooking the sea near the Chasms. Whether this is a burial circle, a dwelling, or something else entirely is unknown — which is exactly what makes it interesting. The hilltop position with sea views is classic prehistoric site selection. WHY: (1) Hilltop stone circles in Britain are consistently associated with burials or ritual activity, (2) The Chasms coastline is one of IoM's most dramatic — ancient people chose dramatic landscapes for rituals, (3) The area between Cronk Karran and the Meayll Circle (nearby) was clearly a significant ritual landscape, (4) Short coastal grass = easy detecting, minimal disturbance.
