⛰️ Cronk Mooar (Jurby, beacon hill)
Multi-Period Archaeological Site MED PriorityElevated ground in Jurby — one of the few natural high points on the northern plain. Any raised ground on the flat northern lowlands was magnetically attractive to settlement. WHY: On a flat landscape, even a small rise offers drainage, visibility, and defensive advantage. Cronk Mooar would have been a focal point for the surrounding farmsteads in every period. Beacon fires here would be visible across the entire northern plain. The surrounding flat fields are prime detecting territory — especially post-harvest.
