Derby Fort

16th-century artillery fort on St Michael's Isle near Derbyhaven. Originally a Henrician Castle built c.1540, reconditioned during the English Civil War. Strategically important for harbour defence. WHY DETECT HERE: Military garrisons stationed here for centuries β soldiers lost buttons, badges, coins, musket balls. The surrounding fields and beach are promising for Civil War-era and earlier finds.
