Eyreton Keeill

Early Christian Keeill & Chapel LOW Priority Eyreton Keeill - Early Christian Keeill & Chapel on the Isle of Man
One of IoM's 200+ keeill sites — small early Christian chapels that dot the landscape. Keeills date from c.500-1200 AD and represent the 'parish churches' of the early Manx Christian community. WHY DETECT HERE: Each keeill served a local farming community for centuries. People gathered for worship, baptisms, and funerals — each event a chance to lose items. The areas immediately around keeills, and the paths leading to them, are prime detecting ground. IoM's 200+ keeill sites represent a massive, largely untapped detecting resource.
