JARVIS REC: Sheltered Bays (Port Erin to Castletown coast)
Metal Detecting & Treasure Hunting Site MED PriorityTERRAIN ANALYSIS: The southern coast between Port Erin and Castletown has multiple sheltered bays, each with its own harbour and settlement. WHY: (1) Sheltered south-facing coast = earliest and most continuous habitation, (2) Multiple harbours means multiple landing points across centuries, (3) Carboniferous limestone coast also yields fossils (double opportunity), (4) Rushen Abbey, Castle Rushen, and Meayll Circle all sit on this stretch. Strategy: beach detect at each bay between Port Erin and Castletown. Focus on harbour areas and old landing beaches.
