Keeill Ballafayle (Keeill Chiggyrt)

Keeill (20' x 11') near Ballafayle in Maughold parish with an 8th-century cross found. Maughold has more keeill sites than any other parish — the Celtic monastery drew satellite chapels across its territory. WHY: Each Maughold keeill was a community focal point within the wider monastic paruchia. The density of keeills here suggests a large, well-organised population. Fields between keeill sites, where daily life occurred, are the detecting target.
