Early Christian Keeill & Chapel MED Priority Keeill Lag ny Killey (Dalby) - Early Christian Keeill & Chapel on the Isle of Man
Keeill (13' x 8'8") near Dalby in the remote western hills, possibly dedicated to St Patrick. The name 'Lag ny Killey' means 'Hollow of the Church'. Similar to the better-known Lag ny Keeilley further south. WHY: Remote western keeills served scattered farming communities in the hills. The paths leading to them (monk's roads) are productive detecting routes. These remote chapels received pilgrims and travellers β€” each visitor a potential source of lost items.
