Keeill Pharlane (Orrestal)

Early Christian Keeill & Chapel MED Priority
Keeill in Kirk Michael parish dedicated to St Bartholomew (Manx: Pharlane). Kirk Michael was a major Norse and medieval centre. The keeill predates the current parish church and represents the ORIGINAL local place of worship before the Norse reorganisation. WHY: Pre-Norse keeills in areas that later became important Norse settlements are especially productive β€” the Norse didn't destroy these chapels, they adopted and continued using them, adding their own artefacts to centuries of Celtic material.
