Kirk Ballaugh (medieval church & Viking graves)

Ballaugh old church — one of IoM's ancient parishes with Viking-era carved crosses. The parish stretches from the mountains to the coast, covering diverse terrain. Ballaugh Burn Foot (the named smugglers' landing) is in this parish. WHY: Parish churches were community focal points for 800+ years. Fields around old Ballaugh church have never been developed. The area between the church and Ballaugh Glen concentrates medieval traffic.
