Malew Church

Ancient parish church in the south, containing Norse cross slabs and medieval architectural features. Malew parish covers rich agricultural land between Castletown and Ballasalla. WHY: The church is near Rushen Abbey and Castle Rushen — this area was the POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS HEART of medieval IoM. The concentration of power, wealth, and population means high detecting potential in surrounding fields. The route from Ronaldsway (Neolithic) through Rushen Abbey (medieval) to Castletown (capital) passes through Malew.
