IoM's premier Early Christian monastery (founded c.500 AD by St Maughold). Over 40 cross slabs found here — the largest collection in the British Isles outside Iona. The monastic vallum (enclosure) extended much further than the current churchyard. Fields to the west and south, where the monks' agricultural lands lay, could contain workshops, guest houses, and craft areas.
