Old Lonan Church (St Adamnan's)

Celtic Heritage Site MED Priority Old Lonan Church (St Adamnan's) - Celtic Heritage Site on the Isle of Man
Atmospheric ruined church in a remote valley setting, dedicated to St Adamnán (author of the Life of St Columba). Contains early carved crosses and ogham stones. The remote glen location is classic for early Celtic monasteries. WHY DETECT HERE: Early Christian and medieval activity in a valley that has seen little modern disturbance. The approaches to the church — trackways through the glen — are excellent for detecting. Celtic and Norse period items both possible.
