Medieval Heritage Site MED Priority
Cistercian abbey founded 1134. The precinct covered a huge area including farms, workshops, mills, and fishponds. The land between the abbey ruins and the Silverburn River was the monks' working landscape. Metalwork from agricultural tools to devotional items.
