⛰️ Slieu Whallian (1,014ft — Fairy Hill)
Multi-Period Archaeological Site MED Priority
Named 'Whallian's Mountain' — traditionally associated with witch trials and folklore. Criminals were allegedly rolled down the hill in spiked barrels as punishment (the 'Slieu Whallian barrel-roll'). The hill has strong folklore associations. WHY: Hills with rich folklore often have genuine archaeological significance — stories preserve memories of ancient activity. Slieu Whallian's judicial/punishment associations may reflect real historical use as an assembly or execution site. The summit and approach paths are worth exploring.
