SS Merisia (Maughold)

Historic Shipwreck & Dive Site MED Priority
Another shallow wreck near Maughold Head, close to the Glendun. Multiple wrecks in this area suggest a hazardous stretch of coast where vessels misjudged the headland in poor visibility. The Maughold Head area is also famous for the haematite mines β€” red-iron minerals stain the rocks. WHY DIVE: Pair this with the Glendun for a two-wreck dive day. The NE coast is less dived than the southern sites, so marine life is potentially less disturbed. The coastal scenery around Maughold Head is spectacular from the water.
