What it is
Manx Treasure Map is an independent public-history index. It is not Manx National Heritage, an access authority, a detectorist directory, a salvage service or a substitute for the Isle of Man Historic Environment Record.
Why it changed
The 2026 rebuild replaced a large inherited target-style catalogue with a smaller curated collection. A record is published only when its identity, source and responsible public location treatment can be explained.
Corrections and additions
Corrections are welcome when they include a stable source, record identifier or report citation. Please do not email confidential findspot coordinates, personal data or active-site intelligence.
Email hello@manxtreasuremap.com. Include the page URL, the proposed correction and the strongest source you have.
Do not report finds here
Possible archaeological objects and treasure should be reported to Manx National Heritage through the official route described on the law and reporting page.
Editorial commitments
- Separate documented fact, interpretation and folklore.
- Never turn a confidential findspot into a precise public pin.
- Do not infer access or legal permission from mapping.
- Link evidence and record when it was checked.
- Correct openly rather than preserving an attractive error.
